Moms- Let’s be honest raising a child with a disability is difficult and taking time to take care of yourself might seem selfish.

What if I could tell you that it is most selfless thing you can do. In order to take care of children with complex needs we first have to make sure that we are in the best mental and physical health of our lives.

When we get to a place where we are able to live in the present with the energy and vitality to enjoy this lifelong rollercoaster we have landed on, not only do we thrive, but so do our children.

Being a DAME has truly blessed my life. Raising a child with high medical needs does not leave much time for self care… or really self anything. Admittedly it has been hard for me over the years to justify finding ways to cope. I was too busy, to stressed. Having access to self care tools, meditations, exercises and uplifting blog posts all from my phone has made time for this tired special needs mama to care for herself, even a few minutes at a time. And that is priceless.
So grateful for D.A.M.E.S, it’s life changing!

I enrolled with DAMES because I realized that I need to invest into self-care and to just find that moment to “fill my cup.”  I enjoy the meditation in the evening, to center myself and clear my mind before I go to bed. It has really helped me to get the rest I need. I have always struggled with going to the gym and not knowing what to do there. The DAMES workout videos have been very useful and even though they are designed for self-care, I have been using them to exercise with my 10-year-old daughter. At this age she is too young to join a gym, and this provides us the opportunity to not only get some exercises, but mommy-daughter bonding time. Thank you D.A.M.E.S. for all your support and care.

As a professional in the autism field, mother and spouse to two beautiful men also on the autism spectrum, dames has been a saving grace for myself. Knowing us momma bears, we scarface our entire world for our cubs. A network where I can connect to vent, seek and understand the others in a similar journey is one of the most needed tools to aid in my self care.

Having a place to go that is just for parents of differently abled children is such a great thing. It’s hard to find a place online where you can get advice on the unique struggles that we face. Plus the webinars pertain so well to parents that it’s an amazing resource to have in my wheel house.

As a working woman, mom, and wife, taking time for myself is hard.  I love how easy it is to access all the amazing tools on D.A.M.E.S.  If I wake up stressed I can log in on my phone and do meditation.  If a want to take a little bit to just exercise, I can log in on my computer and watch a quick workout video.  As busy and stressed moms, we don’t always have a lot of time. D.A.M.E.S. has videos that are the perfect length to get in a little self-care!  No need to search for videos on Youtube and no need to leave your house.  I highly recommend subscribing to D.A.M.E.S.!
